NEW CLASSES FOR APRIL

BRIOCHE STITCH SCARF
Brioche stitch produces a lofty, ridged fabric. Pronounced columns of elongated knit stitches appear to float on the surface above purl troughs. Because it is reversible, brioche stitch is a good choice for scarves, shawls, and blankets.
Using two different colors creates a great effect but is very easy to work. Play with color changing yarns and solids......
When: Wednesday, April 11th,
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Instructor: Christiane
Level: Advanced Beginner.
Material: 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn in different colors. Circular needle size US 6 (or 5).

INTRODUCTION TO MITERED SQUARES
This class is focused on technique rather than a project. Margaret will introduce class participants to making mitered squares by working on a simple block using one skein of worsted weight yarn. A light colored yarn is recommended to enable students to see their stitches. When completed, the block can be used as a wash cloth, hot pad or doll blanket, depending on yarn selection (cotton, 100% wool, or blend, respectively).
Supplies: One skein worsted weight light-colored yarn, one set of needles (straight or circular) sized to the yarn, "safety pin" style stitch markers, scissors, pen/pencil. A pattern will be provided.
Please purchase your yarn and supplies prior to the beginning of class.
NOTE: The photo is representative of how mitered squares look but is not a picture of the block the class will be working on.
When: Wednesday, April 18th
Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Instructor: Margaret
Level: Advanced beginner. Must know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.

Margret used this technique to create this beautiful baby blanket.
I'm sure she will have more exciting ideas for you in the class.

LACE SOCKS

These playful lace socks remind of cascading water falls. They are worked top down and with an easy to memorize pattern repeat which makes it a fast and fun knit. This pattern can be either worked on two circular or double pointed needles.
When: Wednesday, April 25th,
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Instructor: Christiane
Level: Intermediate. (Prior sock knitting experience necessary)
Material: 1 skein of fingering weight yarn. Circular or double pointed needles size US 1 or size to obtain gauge.

YWAT CLASS POLICIES

1. Our classes are free. We only require that you purchase your project from YWAT. This means that you must buy yarn specifically for the class. Unfortunately this also means that you may not use your stash yarn, even if you purchased it at YWAT unless it specifically states otherwise in the class description.
2. Class space is limited. Please make sure you register for courses ahead of time so a place can be reserved for you. Sorry, but walk-ins on the day of class will no longer be permitted. At the time of registration you will be given an information sheet about the class. This includes class days and times, recommended yarn and needles sizes, any homework required prior to class and pattern information. If the pattern is only available as a online download, information where the pattern can be ordered will also be provided.
3. Instructions for classes will be held during class times. Classes will be held on an occasional Tuesday evening, Wednesday evenings or Saturday morning and afternoon. Some classes will have multiple days which should offer sufficuent assistance to complete your project. If additional days are required, a time, mutually agreed upon by the instructor and attendees will be arranged. If you find that you are in need of additional, individual, assistance please call the shop to make an appointment with the instructor. You are always welcome to stop by on the chance that help will be available or if the shop is busy we might not be able to give you the full attention you deserve. Because we value you as a customer and don't want you to be disappointed, please know that not everyone in the shop is familiar with every technique or how the instructor is teaching the class.
