Here are two outfits for the American Girl doll. The dress was made with Tofutsies Sock Weight Yarn (currently onsale for 40% off). The Sweater was made with Limbo by Schoeller + Stahl. Both patterns are from the book Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders which is available in the shop.

This is the Patches sweater designed by Christiane from Lismi Knits. Renie made this adorable sweater out of sock yarn from our great selection. This pattern is another one that is available in the Sock Yarn One Skein Wonder book. This is one book you might want to consider adding to your collection.

JOSU sweater (above) knitted with Linsey yarn by Sheila. Linsey is a worsted weight yarn with a fiber content of Cotton, Acrylic and Linen. This pattern is from Berroco Book #307 Linsey.

Sheila also knitted the ESPENSON sweater (below). Sheila will be teaching the Espenson class on Saturday, June 4th at 9:30am and space is still available. If you would like to join her, please call the shop to reserve your spot and stop in before the class to select your yarn.

Aside from LINSEY yarn, Berroco REMIX yarn has quickly become a shop favorite yarn.  Sandee knitted a beautiful dress for her granddaughter and is now knitting a sweater using Remix. Barbara is also using Remix to knit the Big Easy Gansey sweater pattern designed by Beth Brown-Reinsel. Barbara recently attended a workshop in Leesburg, VA led by Beth Brown-Reinsel. Beth has designed many beautiful Gansey sweater patterns and the workshop focused on learning Traditional Gansey Techniques. It was a fun weekend and Barbara is eager to show off what she learned. Photos of these works-in-progress will be posted soon.

NEW YARN
DREAM IN COLOR SMOOSHY with CASHMERE

Give your feet a treat with a pair of socks knitted with Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere. One skein of this superwash blend of merino, cashmere and nylon will make a pair of soft and beautiful socks. Other suggestions are shawls or even a sweater. This yarn is so nice to work with, even at the cost, you will want more than one pair of socks in your drawer for next winter.

Fiber: 70% Superwash Merino Wool/20% Cashmere/10% Nylon
Weight/Yardage:  4oz/400yd
Knitting Weight: Sock

Beginning in late July and continuing throughout fall and winter we will be featuring classes for Hats, Scarves and Mittens

This Brioche Hat and Mitten set (there is a scarf pattern also available) will be one of the first. This set was knitted with Ella Rae Latte. The pattern, Brioche Twist with Latte by Victoria Myers is available for sale on Ravelry. Brioche knitting is fun and easier than it looks. The set knits up quickly. Once you make one, we know you will be back to knit more.
What is Brioche Knitting?
From Wikipedia: Brioche knitting is a family of knitting patterns involving tucked stitches, i.e., yarn overs that are knitted together with a slipped stitch from the previous row. Such stitches may also be made by knitting into the row below (equivalent to the slipped stitch) and dropping the stitch above (equivalent to the yarn over).
The tucked stitches may form a second layer of knitting in front of the first layer, resembling an array of arches or (seen upside-down) of fish scales.
Brioche knitting may have originated in the Middle East. However, the term "brioche" seems to have derived from French slang for "mistake". The name might be a reference to the brioche dinner roll, which is formed of two pieces, one stacked atop the other.

Sally’s Favorite Summer Sweater
from the book "The Knitting Experience: Book 1: The Knit Stitch"  This fun piece is designed by Sally Mellville. It is oversized to make it the perfect, comfortable garment for warm weather wearing.

DK weight yarn – Yarn suggestions include: Tahki Cotton Classic and Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool.
Needles: Size 5 and 10 ½ (either straight or circular)

(Needle Suggestion – the opaque section of the sweater calls for using both size 5 and size 10 ½ needle. Instead of purchasing two sets of needles, purchase the 5 and 10 ½ tips and one cable from our Knit Pick collection. You can afix one needle of each size at the ends of the cable. Makes knitting these sections very simple.)

You should know how to cast on and the knit stitch.
