March Classes

The March Newsletter will be out soon, but we wanted to post an advance announcement for our March classes.
We will begin on Saturday, March 3rd with:

Building Blocks Afghan

Let’s build an afghan and build your knitting skills one block at a time. Using the book, Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter, we will knit twelve different squares each using different knitting techniques with each block building on the skills learned in the previous block. When completed you will have learned – knit, purl, increase, decrease, cables, right and left twists, even chart reading.
This is an excellent class for anyone, including beginners, who want to increase their knitting knowledge.
Day – Saturday, March 3rd (this class will work two squares at a time until all squares, and your afghan, is completed. Future class dates will be determined on March 3rd).
Time – 9:30a to 11:30a
Instructor – Barbara
Level – Advanced Beginner. This is NOT a learn to knit class. You should have a basic understanding of knitting and are comfortable with casting on, knit and purl.

Level – Advanced Beginner
Please purchase all yarn and supplies prior to class.

On Wednesday, March 21st, don't miss this opportunity to learn a new technique and knit:

Mosaic Knittted Pouches
Are you intrigued by color work but intimidated by the idea of having to manage two or more yarns across a row? Then mosaic knitting may be the thing to try. Mosaic knitting is an interesting technique where you will use multiple colors, but each row is worked with only one. The magic happens when you add slipped stitches. The end result is a dense sturdy fabric perfect for these pouches. This project is worked flat. The pattern gives you a choice of three sizes to make ranging from 3" x 3.75" to 5.5" x 5.75".
Day: Wednesday, March 21
Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Instructor: Margaret
Level: Intermediate or adventurous advanced beginner. Must know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.
Material: Worsted weight yarn - either one skein color-changing yarn such as Noro Silk Garden OR one skein EACH of two contrasting colors
Size 6 needles and size 7 needles. These can be straight or circular, student's choice.
Please purchase all yarn and supplies prior to class.
Pattern is available at http://versusmag.blogspot.com/2011/04/mosaic-knitted-pouches-tutorial-with.html please download your copy prior to class..

Last, but not least, on March 24th add to your spring wardrobe with:

Box Drape Vest
The combination of boxes and a nice drape create a vest that anyone, no matter their size, can wear and look marvelous. Once you get started you won’t want to stop.
This pattern was chosen from the book Swing Swagger Drape: Knit the Colors of Australia by Jane Slicer-Smith.
