Holiday Happenings at Yarns With A Twist

Right before the holidays everyone was busy putting the finishing touches on gifts and other holiday items. Here are some of the finished projects.......

Diane F. made this warm cowl out of Cascade's Magnum. She also made her hat from felted material to match.

Michelle W. completed her Spotted Fair Isle Mittens. Pattern is available in the book 60 Quick Knits using Cascade 220.
Wendy L. designed, and knitted, this beautiful Christmas stocking. She used yarn that was in her stash.

Sandee was busy knitting hat, after hat, after hat, after hat for her family. The top row from left to right: the first three were knitted with Plymouth Merino Select and the fourth was knitted with Duo from Swedish Yarn Imports. Bottom row from left to right: Blue hat was knitted for Sandee's niece using Duo. The photo is Sandee's daughter and grandsons wearing their new hats.
Cabin Fever's.... Need More Hats? is the source for the patterns for all the hats.
Darcy L. knitted this adorable mitten and hat set using Encore Worsted yarn. The pattern is Fiber Trends Mitten Mania CH-6 and the hat is...A Berry Cute Hat Ch-9

Meliva M. crocheted thise coasters using crochet cotton. What a beautiful job!

Holidays at Yarns With A Twist

The countdown to Christmas begins but there is still enough time to make one, two even three last minute gifts. A long, warm scarf, hats, mittens, even a shawl. Don't want to knit, but still need a gift for a favorite knitter, or even a present for yourself? The popular yarn holders are due in any day, knitting needle and crochet hook sets, beautiful Philospher Wool sweater kits,  are a few suggestions.

Etsy finds

Sometimes we get lost on Etsy looking at wonderful fiber finds.  These are a few things I found that you might also think.  The artistry that fiber artists create is often so beautiful, whimsical and imaginative.  These are not things we carry in the shop...it's just wanderings in appreciation of the art of fiber!

We hope you had fun looking at a bit of inspiration for your projects!

Holiday time in the shop....

The little gnomes are showing up in the shop again. Linda W. knit this little gnome out of Silky Wool. He's holding a little bag to tuck his treasures in.

Here is Sandee's grandson in his beautiful new sweater that she knit for him.  We had a brief chance to see it on him before he was off to fly home out West.  It is a perfect fit and he looks so cute in it!

Susan knit up this this little bear for the Motherbear Project.  This was her first little toy that she knit and it came out so cute.  Some lucky little child will soon be receiving this.  If you'd like to contribute a bear to this project look up The Motherbear Project.  We are a drop off for these sweet little bears.
Milva crocheted her first snowflake doily.  She did a wonderful job.

This Mystery KAL is part of a Knit for Tibet campaign we do in the Wool-Aid ravelrygroup to help to provide as much warm knitted items for the earthquake victims as possible.
"Knit for Tibet is an outreach effort of the Kyegu Relief Fund, established in response to the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the eastern Tibetan town of Kyegu on April 14, 2010. The humanitarian need is ongoing and significant. Approximately 10,000 people were killed, 20,000 people are injured, and 100,000 people have been left homeless and destitute. More than 90% of the buildings were reduced to rubble. Many of the survivors have no family left."
Winters are harsh in Kyegu, and the people are facing desperate conditions. Many are currently living in lightweight tents. They are especially in need of vests, sweaters, and socks. The sizes most needed are for babies and teens.
Please also check the Wool-Aid website for more info.
With the COLORIDO Mystery  KAL I hope to be able to help adding some more sweaters to the next shipment.
Here how it works:
I will post parts of the pattern on my blog every so often. If you have a questions please either post your questions on the Wool-Aid ravelry board, as a comment here or send an email to c.burkhard at gmail dot com.
