This scarf was made by Joanne Fetta using Ellyn Cooper's Highland Wool in color Kilm.
The pattern is One row Hand Spun Scarf by the Yarn Harlot which is a free online pattern.

California Week Reminder

Reminder that this is California Week and with so many members of the Yarns With A Twist team off to California and Stitches West, Yarns With A Twist will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Feb. 16, 17 & 18). The store will reopen on Saturday, Feb. 19th at 11am.  -- Congratulations to Christiane Burkhard on her new design, Morning Breeze, which will be shown on the Stitches West runway this week.

Our Miss Marple evening was a huge success. The shop was full of knitters, crocheters and spinners listening to "Murder at the Vicarge" while working on Miss Marple shawls and other projects. The only problem is that there wasn't enough time to listen to the full story. Our next Miss Marple..Part 2 will be Friday, March 4th at 7PM. Please call to let us know you are coming.

This beautiful scarf, Road Map, was knit by Sue Walker. The pattern in the scarf can be knitted to reflect different times of your life.
Road Map can be purchsed on Ravelry. Sue made it out of Mission Falls 136.
As of January 1, 2011, Mission Falls yarn will no longer be manufactured. For Mission Falls lovers, YWAT, still has an large inventory of this yarn. Effective immediately, all Mission Falls yarns will be on sale at 35% off. This discount applies to current inventory only. Special orders cannot be taken. Once it is gone, it is gone.

Barb W. knitted these double knit mittens using two skeins of Ella Rae Classic Print yarn. This simple pattern results in a double layer that provides extra warmth for cold hands. If you would like to learn how to double-knit, please call the shop and let us know. The pattern will be available at the store.

What Would Miss Marple Knit?

A SHAWL!
Reminder that on Friday, February 11th, from 7 pm to 9 pm Yarns With A Twist will host "What Would Miss Marple Knit?". Kai ce Burton has obtained a copy of "Murder at the Vicarage", so please join us that evening to sit, knit and listen to this Miss Marple mystery. For those that would like to knit the "Miss Marple Shawl", the September/October 2010 issue of Piecework includes this vintage shawl pattern originally published in Weldon's Practical Needlework Shawls in Knitting and Crochet. If you don't want to knit this shawl, but would prefer to work on a current project, bring it along and join us for a fun evening. Refreshments will be served.

Barb W. knit her shawl (top and right) using the new Cascade 220 Sport and size 8 circular needles. According to the pattern, the finished shawl is a square. To wear it is then folded in half to a double layer triangle. Barb chose to only knit half of the pattern, resulting in a single layer triangle. Only 7 skeins of the Cascade Sport yarn were used and the finished size at the top is 72" wide. The Cascade 220 sport is a new yarn and there is still a wide selection of colors available. This shawl will be on display at Yarns With A Twist.

TWO NEW EVENTS AT THE SHOP

WHAT WOULD MISS MARPLE KNIT?

Agatha Christie introduced Miss Marple in 1930 in her book "Murder at the Vicarage". For Miss Marple "knitting was merely a guise, a means of appearing busy while listening to and watching the interaction between charachters, assessing motives, relationships, albis."
On Friday, February 11th,  from 7 pm to 9 pm Yarns With A Twist will host "What Would Miss Marple Knit?". The answer: A Shawl, of course. Kai ce Burton has obtained a copy of "Murder at the Vicarage". Join us that evening to sit, knit and listen to this Miss Marple mystery. For those that would like to knit the "Miss Marple Shawl", the September/October 2010 issue of Piecework includes this vintage shawl pattern originally published in Weldon's Practical Needlework Shawls in Knitting and Crochet. Even if you don't want to knit this shawl, but would prefer to work on a current project, please join us for a fun evening.
